Mooney for a first airplane?
I know i'm getting a little ahead of myself, but i've been thinking about this for a long time, i guess i just want to do it right the first time. I'm thinking about getting my first airplaine in 4-5 years, and i have pretty much considered everthing from a cherokee 140 to a cessna 210. but getting realistic, i would like to stay around $100k tops. I would like an airplane that i can grow into (but no too much airplane) and a solid IFR platform that i can use to fly around the Caribbean (based in Puerto Rico).
I have been looking at the performance of Mooney M20F and M20J, these aircraft seem like a great balance of perfomance and economy (great fuel consumption), i've read some articles debunking a lot of the bad rep they have with maintenance and every day they seem like a better option.
I would love to hear your opinion on this, and while your at it, what was your first airplane, and how did that fit into your mission at the time? did you regret it?
